Frequently Asked Questions

What are your hours?

Our centre is open Monday to Friday from 7:00am - 6:00pm. We are closed on all statutory holidays.

Where are you located?

We are located in the heart of the Riel Recreational park in St. Albert, minutes from the Ray Gibbons.

What is naptime like?

We create a calm and cozy environment for nap time by dimming the lights, lowering the curtains, playing gentle music, and arranging the room to give children plenty of space to rest. To help them feel safe and comfortable, we encourage children to bring along a favorite blanket or stuffed toy from home.

What age range of children do you accept?

At Daycare On Riel, we accept children between the ages of 12 months - 5 years.

What programs do you follow?

What programs do you follow? At Daycare on Riel, our programs are designed in alignment with the Alberta Childcare Curriculum. We take a holistic approach to early learning and draw inspiration from the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which values each child as curious, capable, and full of potential.

What is the Holistic Approach? A holistic approach means supporting every part of a child’s development — emotional well-being, cognitive growth, creativity, social skills, and physical abilities. By nurturing the whole child, we help them build confidence, resilience, and a love for learning.

Through the Reggio Emilia method, we encourage exploration, discovery, and meaningful learning experiences that foster lifelong growth. Learn more here!

What is our illness policy?

We follow the health and safety guidelines set out by Alberta Health, which state that children should not attend daycare if they are experiencing any illness or flu-like symptoms. This policy helps us ensure the well-being of all children and staff. Full details can be found in the Parent Handbook provided upon enrolment.
